September Presidents Message

President’s Message!

I hope everyone had a nice summer. I think that we got off pretty easy, heat wise. I had hoped to head up to the Oregon coast and work some DX from a campground up there, but it never seemed to happen. Things just kept filling in, and before I knew it, summer was almost gone and I was still in the valley. Next year I am just going to book a week at the campground and everything will have to work around it.

During the break we had Field Day (more on that later) and 5 or 6 Desert RATS went down to Perris for some ARES training. It was a nice all day event, with lunch provided. There were 3 talks in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. Topics were from traffic handling, a geologist talking about all sorts of natural disasters to armed insurgents and where they might strike. All in all, a very informative day.

For the next year, coming up the Desert RATS have the Tech class sessions at the end of October. Tell your friends that have been
talking about getting their license. Several members have asked about a General class. We are working on that as well.

Of course on March 14 will be the Palm Springs Hamfest, held at the Palm Springs Pavilion. Everything is already rolling on that. If
you would like to help out and head a committee, let me know. This year we are looking forward to it even being bigger and better.

Club elections are in November, if you would like to run for any
office, please let me know.

The support team for Eisenhower Hospital is in need of more members. There is a little training involved and a few drills. You
could be a real life saver.

That's about all for now. See you on the bands.
