They covered many of the roles, responsibilities and training opportunities available for ARES certification, as well as how that training could be obtained. Additional information, including operating and supporting documentation can be obtained from www.aresdb.comwww.arrl.org, and www.areswrc.org.

The Great Shakeout went well. We had good support from our membership. Thank you for all your support leading up to and the day of the event. Here is a picture of Tom and the gang working the event (thanks to Mark KD6SEC). We learnt a lot from the event from an operating and environmental perspective, and look forward to implementing the lessons learned in time for the next event.

There are several exciting events we are looking forward to: We have scheduled the Club Picnic for March 23rd2019 at the Lake Cahuilla Park in La Quinta. We are moving forward to lock down the details, but it promises to be a fantastic event with catered food, fun and games for all. More details on this event as it gets closer.

Also, Mark KD6SECis busy putting the finishing touches to our Technician licensing classed for January. Please help him out by spreading the word to anybody that might be interested. Signups can be done on the RATS website.

We will be conducting our annual Club elections at the November meeting. If you would like to run for an office, please let Gavin K6GAV know and he will add you name to the candidate list.

November will be our last meeting at the Alejo Road facility. Over the years, we have enjoyed and appreciated the hospitality provided by the Palm Springs Fire Department. We thank them for their help and look forward to continuing our great relationship with the department. Thanks and appreciation also go to Cameron WJ6LWH for his unceasing support, dedication (and endurance) in providing a liaison between the Club and the Fire Department. Please see below for further information on our new home.

Also note there will not be a meeting in December.

That’s about it for now. Good luck with DX – with the current state of the bands, you’re going to need it!
