Presidents Message – March, 2019
Well, greetings one and all. The year is sure creeping by. First off. Please get your dues in. You can go to the RATS web site at desertrats.us and pay online via Pay Pal. Or you can print out the form and mail it in. The last and easiest option is to pay at the March RATS meeting. If you are not a current member of The Desert RATS Amateur Radio Club, you cannot attend the upcoming BBQ.
Speaking of the BBQ. It’s all coming together. Grills Gone Wild is bringing the food and soft drinks. The club is covering the cost of everything except your entrance to the park. There’ll be big RATS signs everywhere. See below for more information.
We have a stack of radios to give away. A Yaesu HF rig, 2 VHF/UHF mobile radios and at least 2 multiband HTs, plus a bunch of other useful items. Everyone gets one free ticket; more tickets are available at $5 each. We will be providing extra tables, chairs and umbrellas but feel free to bring your own. Also, if you have a GO kit that you’d like to bring, please do so. It may give someone some ideas to build their own.
We also will have some activities and displays lined up. So please RSVP to the eViteyou received in your email. If you did not receive an eViteand want to attend, please contact Ralph at ralph@mrbconsulting.biz
Check out this month’s meeting at the Elks Lodge. Ever wonder about those monster antennas for AM broadcast? Why are there 3 or 4 of them all lumped together? How do they get a 100-foot antenna up a 2,000-foot tower? Well, show up at the March RATS meeting and find out.
See you on the bands.
