Presidents Message
I hope this month’s newsletter finds you all well and happy in this wonderful Spring weather.
The way things are going, it looks like we might be back to normal by this Fall. We do have a new meeting place at Desert Oasis Health Care over near the PS Airport. We’ve never even had a chance to try it out yet. I am looking forward to seeing all my friends again, in person.
Speaking of food, this October will be the RATS Picnic. It will be a BBQ at Lake Cahuilla for paid RATS members and their family, all on the RATS. More to come on that. Also, in October we are looking at having a RATS Swap. Junk in the Trunk and we’ll be inviting other clubs to join in.
We are planning to continue with the Zoom meeting throughout the summer. Our VP, Randy N6RLV, has a summer of RATS meetings all lined up for us. We might also go back to Manhattan In The Desert for some informal get togethers. That will depend on the restaurant.
In June, ARRL Field Day is coming up. Again, we’ll be operating from our home QTHs. More on that further in this newsletter,
Take a look at our RATS web site (desertrats.us) if you have not lately. There are some nice changes. Look under the Members Only tab (you’ll have to sign in/up for access). We still have some radios, antennas, coax and a bunch of other stuff for sale. You can add your surplus to the list.
Also, new is an Elmers List. Need help with a problem? Ask a RATS Elmer. Would you like to be added to the Elmers List? Please contact the Board. Contact for the list is done via a forwarding email, so your private email is not published. See below for more information
Also under the Members page is a new feature. We have started adding Ham Radio related article archive. There are only a few now, but over the next few weeks we will be adding more. There will be informative articles from antennas to construction projects to RF questions, just about everything. So check in from time to time. If you have an article that you’d like to share, get a hold of Gavin K6GAV via the Board.
See you on the bands.
