Feb 2016 President’s Message
The RATS 2016 Hamfest is pretty much all set. We had 2 vendors that could not make it his year, but we picked up some new ones. Several more vendors have already promised to make it next year that can’t make it this time. So we keep growing. In order to keep growing we need our fellow Hams to come to the event. So I am asking all of you to announce the Hamfest on every net that you check into or any other way to spread the word. Post it on your Yahoo groups. Full information is at palmspringshamfest.org.
Want to up grade your Ham license? Starting March 28th the Desert RATS will be holding Extra Class licensing classes. It will run every Monday evening for 6 weeks. Don’t wait until the last minute to sign up. More information is on the clubs web site.

February 19th and 20th is the Yuma Hamfest at the fair grounds there. Don’t miss this fun 2 day event. There is lots to do and a great swap area. Find someone to car pool with. http://www.yumahamfest.org/

Some one came up with the idea. I think that it is a good one. How about a lady’s net? About one third of our membership are licensed woman hams. It could be an open mic, round table kind of a thing. Topics could be ham related or not. Joan K6QJU has agreed to be moderator. We are planning on Wednesdays at 7pm. Give a listen on the Monday night net for more info.

It is again time to start thinking about the Menifee 5k/Half Marathon Race. It is scheduled for April 9th. I have contact United Way and they are delighted that we will again, for the third year, provide our amateur radio service for the race.
