Well, I guess you should be the first to know. The other day I sat down with the folks at the Palm Springs Air Museum to talk about Hamfest 2018. The answer was pretty much a monosyllabic “no”. They did enjoy us, we cleaned up better than anyone else, we were easy to work with. But still the answer is “no”. They did not like the swap area and we took pretty much their entire gate. Meaning they had very few people come in through the front door to see the museum. As a result, they have decided to not hold any big events on Saturdays during season. By The Way.. they consider season to run until Memorial Day.
So there you have it. Unless we want to hold Hamfest in June, the museum is out. As we have grown the event, unless we can find a space with about 30,000 square feet, with bathrooms and AC etc, plenty of parking (we had about 1000 attendees that day), RV parking and rooms for the speakers and cheap.. we need to be able to afford it … Hamfest will just have to go by way of the Dodo bird.
At least we went out with a bang.
