Presidents Message October 2020
I don’t know how a year can go by so fast, sitting at home doing nothing. But here we are. And crud, it’s still 100 degrees out.
Well, the RATS are going forward like the good troopers they are. We are lining up great speakers for our monthly Zoom meetings and trying to get a few events organized. This year we will be having a Zoom December meeting. A Zoom pot-luck? Nah.
Last month’s meeting went well with about 40 members coming on-line to see and hear the “SWR, Who Needs It?” talk. It was a great talk, full of more information than my brain could absorb. But if you came away with some little tid-bit, you are money ahead. Our club VP, Randy N6RLV, is doing a great job on lining up our speakers.
Let’s see. Coming up in November are the club elections. The entire board has stepped up to be on the ticket of next year. If you would like to run for a board position, drop Gavin a note. Any board position (even president… hint hint).
Some future events that we might participate in are some of the contests. The California QSO Party was a few weeks ago. We could do contests like this from the safety of our own homes and just submit our logs as a club.
Winter Field Day is still several months off, but Mark KD6SEC, myself and a few others are already talking about heading back out to the lake and setting up. It can be a club activity as safe as you choose. There would be some logistics to discuss. Safety with food, safe distancing etc. What do you think? Something to discuss at the Zoom meetings.
Take care my friends, be safe and see you on the bands
