Hamfest Update

Hamfest Update
February 1, 2014 Ralph Borcherds

Hamfest planning is right on target. We have 29 groups participating including 17 vendors in the Pavilion. Everything is coming together and we are all looking forward to the event. We will ve a meeting on Thursday, February 13 at the Barn at 7:00 PM for all who wish to come. We want as many volunteers as possible and if you are not on a committee, please come. We can use you. We still need more volunteers. But you will not be overworked. You will have plenty of time to view the products or sit in on a talk, or talk on the special event station. We will
also have tailgaters and a few vendors in the ball field along with RV’s.

This is going to be a lot of fun, especially for first timers. We will have the CERT trailer there, the Palm Springs Fire Truck, the Palm Springs Mounted Enforcement Unit (maybe even a horse or two) and an Ambulance outside. Along with our first aid station with lots of health information and testing for diabetes and blood pressure, we will have disaster preparedness information from SATERN, Red Cross, ARES, Civil Air Patrol and RACES.
We will serve lunch so plan to stay for a great meal. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, salads, soda, chips and water. There should be something for everyone. So, if you are there and hungry, there will be a good meal for you. And the food committee does a great job in preparing the food fresh. If you would like to help, come to the meeting on the 13th and we welcome your help.
We will be setting up tables on Friday afternoon, March 14, at 3:00 PM. Vendors can start setting up at 4:00 to 6:00 PM. We will need quite a few bodies to get everything ready in an hour. So anyone that is able to help, please come and lend a hand. Also, the parking and tailgating & RV committees please come on Friday afternoon by 2:30 to help park RV’s and any tailgaters that come. Some tailgaters may come on Friday and will be camping in the field. To date we have about 19 RV spaces reserved. Most are coming on Friday afternoon so they can set up their vendor space in the Pavilion.
Several companies had donated prizes to the Hamfest. Check out the website for the update on prizes and the vendors and groups participating. www.palmspringshamfest.com
