Presidents Message

First thing, I hope everyone had a good Holiday season and got through the New Year OK.  Boy, it was sure odd to see The Ball drop in Times Square and no crowd there to cheer it’s decent.

Last month’s Zoom video presentations were well received with about 40 members tuning in to their local RATS channel. We had some good discussions about getting youth involved, and also the use of antenna analyzers.

This month’s meeting will be on Jan, 19. Same RATS time, same RATS channel. More on that later in the newsletter. If you do not receive an email with the secret handshake by Monday evening, drop the board a line on the club web site.

The last weekend of the month will be Winter Field Day. It will be a little more informal this year – but held at the same place at Lake Cahuilla.

Here is something to look forward to: The world is promising to be a better place by this Fall. The Desert RATS Amateur Radio Club is planning another wing-ding BBQ. All the stops pulled out. All for paid RATS members. We also plan to hold a tailgate/swap meet. Junk In The Trunk. Bring your junk, sell it and buy more junk. I mean stuff. The target date will be in October.

See you on the bands. And here is to a great 2021.
