June Meeting
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 16th. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, This meeting will be conducted via Zoom, and will feature a presentation by Alan, W6WN titled “Phones, Fires and Failures”.
Phones, Fires, and Radios details the catastrophic communications failures during the first few hours of the Camp Fire which seriously impacted First Responders and Residents, hampering evacuations and placing lives at risk. The Webinar goes on to highlight how and why these same communications failures have occurred year after year throughout the US and will likely occur again.
Alan helped with disaster-recovery efforts in Butte County eight days after the Camp Fire destroyed the communities of Paradise, Magalia, and Concow. He worked there helping to restore cell-phone service and it turned him into an “Accidental Advocate” for disaster preparedness and communications safety.
If you wish to attend the presentation you will need to download and install the Zoom app. It is available for all platforms and is extremely easy to install. The app can be downloaded from here.
