Lecia Elzig is a law enforcement veteran, serving twenty-eight years with the California Highway Patrol. Her career encompassed posts all over California, including the command of three CHP patrol stations over a period of nine years.
In her capacity as a CHP Commander, she was involved in the management of many emergency incidents, including being CHP Incident Commander for the Esperanza Fire of 2006. Her career in the CHP culminated at the rank of Assistant Chief, where she had statewide oversight of the CHP’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Internal Affairs divisions.
She retired in 2010 and now uses her emergency incident management experience as a Red Cross volunteer (Government Liaison) and chair of Riverside County VOAD. She was the 2015 recipient of the American Red Cross Distinguished Service Award.
