ARES and RACES working together

  1. ARES and RACES has a working agreement on how we can work together.  Any ARES member that wants to be able to help with any event that RACES is in charge of you have to do the following to be considered.
    1. Take the FEMA ICS traing for ICS-100, ICS-200, IC-700 and IC-800.  These are required to understand the way RACES communicates.  This is the structure of communications etc.
    2. Sign up at http://www.aresdb.com and make sure you selected Coachella Valley as one of the groups you belong to.  We will call upon you based upon belonging to that group designation only.  The Riverside County group will be for more county wide events in other areas.
    3. Keep your registration on the ARES DB site updated anytime you get more certifications etc.
  2. If we do not get enough ARES members for an event, ARES will call on RACES members to help.
  3. All the events that RACES currently run will be filled by current RACES members then the ARES members that have had the ICS training will be asked if they would like to participate in the event.  Initially there will be a lot of doubling up on the positions so that ARES members will be trained as to how RACES works.

NBEMS Nets

All ARES members that have a system that can be used for NBEMS, please check-in on the NBEMS Net that is run by RACES on Thursday Mornings at 9:00 AM.  ARES will be starting a once a month NBEMS Net shortly.  We will discuss at meeting about getting computers configured to do the net.

Need AEC’s for ARES

We currently have a couple of AEC (Assistant Emergency Coordinator) here in Coachella Valley.  We need a few more to be the liaison between ARES and some of the groups.  You will be responsible to attend the monthly meetings and report back to us what was discussed and what help we can give the group.

We need AEC’s for the following groups:

  • CVERG – This is a quarterly meeting that moves around the valley.  The next meeting is Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in The Lakes Administration Building with the meeting after that on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Sun City Palm Desert.
  • VOAD – This meets the first Thursday of every month in Beaumont at City Hall from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We will have a presentation on what VOAD is this month.  Look for the article about this months speaker for details.
  • Red Cross – This is on a as needed basis.  We need someone to attend the meetings to help with Red Cross activities and get the needed support for the various activities.  It does not take a lot of time but we need a dedicated liaison with them.  You will work with Chris Ellsworth (KD7FKN also Club Treasurer), who the local Red Cross Chapter communications person.
  • AngelView – You will be responsible for working with Melissa Acosta (KJ6GQY) to help support them and get their employees trained.

We currently have an AEC for the Hospital Support group.  We are expanding what we do and we need a lot of help.  Please let us know if you are interested in helping.
