Our February meeting was quite informative. CHP officer Mike gave us the latest on the Hand-held Devices Law. In January AB1222 was passed that exempts Ham operating mobile from the law. Great news for us. He still gave us what for about distracted driving. Push come to shove, if you cause an accident while operating mobile, you still were driving distracted. Then again, eating, drinking a Coke or yelling at the kids in the back seat is still distracted driving. As Officer Mike pointed out, “preferred is two hands on the wheel, eyes straight ahead.”
The Tech Class was a great success, I’ll let Mark tell you about that. Anyone interested in a General Class? Get a hold of Mark and let him know. If we get enough interest, we’ll do a General License class.
Field Day is coming up. Just a reminder, it’s the last full weekend in June. We always need volunteers for food, set up, tear down and of course operators. New to Ham Radio, have a Technician license? We can put you on the HF bands and get some mic time under your belt.
